Thanks to May, South Carolina 2015 class ranked No. 8 in the nation

South Carolina has the nation’s eighth-ranked class, yet the best may be yet to come.

Players like junior college studs D.J. Jones and Marquavius Lewis could be on board soon, as both are from the Palmetto State and both will be on a BCS campus early next year. Former South Carolina commits Arden Key and Dante Sawyer could also be on board in the near future. Four-star prospects Octavis Johnson and Zack Bailey could also join the group.

That’s six four-star (or better) prospects who the Gamecocks have a great chance of landing in the 2015 class.

And as for the 10 who are on board already, it’s an excellent group–and May produced four of them. The latest pickup is Louisiana native Jozie Milton, a defensive tackle. Also coming aboard were four-star QB Lorenzo Nunez, four-star athlete Jalen Christian and three-star tight end Kyle Markway. The common theme for the May pickups? They were all from out of state–showing the reach South Carolina has.

“To play under a head coach like (Steve) Spurrier and to play in a program like South Carolina is truly a dream come true,” Markway told Saturday Down South. “I can’t wait to give the fans down there what they deserve, a national championship. To be able to play as a freshman in the SEC for South Carolina is a big factor in my commitment.”

Editor’s note: Saturday Down South’s references to ratings follow the 247Sports.com composite rankings for high school prospects.
