National top 50 prospects Jerome Baker, Justin Hilliard and Jashon Cornell will all be off the table by July 11–and that could be good news or bad news for the SEC programs.
The trio is from Big Ten country, which would seem to indicate their leanings–but all three have insisted that their list of favorites goes beyond Big Ten boundaries, and all three have SEC schools near the top. Baker, who will choose on July 11, has seriously considered Florida and Tennessee, while Alabama is very much after Hilliard and Cornell and is considered a contender for the duo. The Crimson Tide would take the two in a heartbeat. Of course, Ohio State is considered a leader for all three players, with schools like Notre Dame, Penn State and Michigan all chasing, also.
Hilliard and Cornell will go public with their decisions on Wednesday. Hilliard is rated a five-star prospect, while the other two are high end four-star prospects. All three are defensive recruits, Hilliard at linebacker, Cornell at defensive end and Baker a versatile athlete who could play linebacker or running back.
