Nation’s top outside linebacker to pick SEC school Tuesday

The Tiger tidal wave begins Tuesday.

Clifton Garrett, a 6-foot-2, 230-pound five-star prospect and the nation’s top outside linebacker, will make his college decision known today at 4 p.m. EST time. Garrett is a high school prospect out of Plainfield, Illinois, and he is expected to choose LSU over Ole Miss, Tennessee and Florida–all schools that he has taken an official visit to this fall. Alabama also offered a scholarship.

Garrett’s announcement could be the first of several monster five-star announcements that go LSU’s way in the next few weeks. A slew of uncommitted bluechippers are planning to announce at the Under Armour Game on Jan. 2–it seems almost scripted what will happen that day. LSU should come away very happy. The nation’s No. 1 overall prospect, Leonard Fournette, is expected to pick LSU that day, as are several other Tigers targets. Whether the onslaught will be enough to push LSU past Alabama in the national team rankings remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure–LSU fans will be very happy the next couple of weeks.

Editor’s note: All ranking references are based on the composite ranking.

  1. The next few seasons will be fun to watch. I can’t wait! I hope we land Garrett. He’s a big piece to the puzzle.

  2. I realize that Garrett will probably sign with LSU, but watch out for Ole Miss. They have proved they are capable of getting 5-star recruits to sign with them. Garrett has mentioned that he does like Ole Miss.
