This week, one of the best cornerbacks in the nation let it be known via Twitter that he has a top five.
Tennessee and South Carolina are two of those finalists for four-star prospect Garrett Taylor out of Richmond (Va.). Stanford, Michigan and Michigan State were the other three schools, and obviously none of the Virginia schools or ACC in general made the the list. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound cornerback with 4.5 second speed also said that Stanford and Michigan stood out slightly for his services.
Taylor is rated the No. 93 overall prospect in America and also lists scholarship offers from schools like LSU, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Clemson, Ohio State and Penn State.
Taylor told Rivals.com that he was very impressed with Tennessee head coach Butch Jones and South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier. He said that the competitive nature of the SEC is one of the reasons the two schools made the cut, that he’s intrigued by playing in the conference.
