Four SEC teams and the national champs make up No. 1′s top five

Trent “Jolly” Thompson made five coaching staffs ‘Jolly’ this week when he announced they were in his recruiting inner circle. He considers them top five caliber.

Four SEC schools–Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee and Auburn–made the defensive tackle’s cut, as did national champion Florida State. Thompson is rated the No. 1 overall prospect in America by the composite ranking. He is considered a heavy Georgia lean, and hails from the Peach State, but in a recent interview with Saturday Down South, he also heaped praise on the Seminoles and Auburn because of their 2013 seasons, but also spoke highly of many others.

Thompson (6-3/310) also said he didn’t want to make an early commitment.
