Uncommitted countdown: Best 30 SEC targets available- No. 7 Byron Cowart, DE

SDS will count down the 30 biggest SEC targets still available around the country–these are the players SDS thinks realistically will end up signing with SEC schools. Obviously there are players with SEC offers out west and up north, but if it looks like they aren’t seriously considering the SEC, we didn’t include them in this series.

Here’s a day-by-day ‘month of June’ look at the top 30 realistic SEC targets left in the country, ranking them from No. 30 down to No. 1 on June 30th.

No. 7 – Byron Cowart, DE, Seffner (Fla.), 6-4/250

SEC OFFERS: Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Mississippi State, Missouri, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Tennessee.
NAT. RANKING: No. 14 overall prospect in America.
NAT. POS. RANKING: No. 2 strongside defensive end in America.
THE SKINNY: Cowart is quick, quick, quick. I mean, how does a guy this big get so quick? With his quickness and his all out speed (4.60 second time in 40-yard dash) he is obviously highly coveted, and there’s a very good chance he ends up at Florida. Armwood High School–a Florida powerhouse for more than a decade–has sent players Florida’s way before. Keep an eye on Oregon, an outside threat, but in all this looks like the Gators’ to lose. And Florida State isn’t a big threat here, which is rare this year.
SDS PREDICTION: Looking pretty good for the Gators.

Editor’s note: For this particular series, Saturday Down South’s order for ‘likely SEC recruits’ is determined using the 247Sports.com industry composite ranking (as of June 1st ranking).
