Uncommitted countdown: Best 30 SEC targets available- No. 6 Kendall Sheffield, DB

NCAA Football: U.S. Army All-American Bowl

SDS will count down the 30 biggest SEC targets still available around the country–these are the players SDS thinks realistically will end up signing with SEC schools. Obviously there are players with SEC offers out west and up north, but if it looks like they aren’t seriously considering the SEC, we didn’t include them in this series.

Here’s a day-by-day ‘month of June’ look at the top 30 realistic SEC targets left in the country, ranking them from No. 30 down to No. 1 on June 30th.

No. 6 – Kendall Sheffield, DB, Missouri City (Texas), 5-11/180

SEC OFFERS: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, LSU, Ole Miss, Texas A&M.
NAT. RANKING: No. 9 overall prospect in America.
NAT. POS. RANKING: No. 3 cornerback in America.
THE SKINNY: Sheffield has elite track speed and has the nationally ranked times to prove it. His 4.40 second times in the 40-yard dash are legendary and put him in perfect position to cover any SEC wide receiver that comes his way. He may not be 6-foot-3, but this kid is a baller–that’s why he’s ranked the No. 1 prospect in the No. 1 state in the country when it comes to high school football–Texas. The Aggies are all over Sheffield, and it doesn’t look like the Longhorns have much of a change. Boy, have things changed in Texas in five years.
SDS PREDICTION: Texas A&M. Book it.

Editor’s note: For this particular series, Saturday Down South’s order for ‘likely SEC recruits’ is determined using the 247Sports.com industry composite ranking (as of June 1st ranking).
