Uncommitted countdown: Best 30 SEC targets available- No. 28 LB Ricky DeBerry

SDS will count down the 30 biggest SEC targets still available around the country–these are the players SDS thinks realistically could end up signing with SEC schools. Obviously there are players with SEC offers out west and up north, but if it looks like they aren’t seriously considering the SEC, we didn’t include them in this series.

Here’s a day-by-day ‘month of June’ look at the top 30 realistic SEC targets left in the country, ranking them from No. 30 down to No. 1 on June 30th.

No. 28 – Ricky DeBerry, LB, Richmond (Va.), 6-3/255

SEC OFFERS: Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, LSU, Mississippi State, Missouri, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M.
NAT. RANKING: No. 71 overall prospect in America.
NAT. POS. RANKING: No. 5 outside linebacker in America.
THE SKINNY: There are a lot of non-SEC schools vying for DeBerry, with Ohio State, Oklahoma, Michigan State and in-staters Virginia and Virginia Tech figuring into the mix. DeBerry is an extremely talented and savvy prospect and will not be swayed by hype. Look for him to be one of the mysteries of this entire class, not because he wants to be perplexing, but because he’s the type of kid who will measure it all out before making a decision–and schools will certainly wait. For the record, DeBerry’s father–Rick DeBerry–tells SDS that they will be visiting Tennessee and Alabama in the next few weeks.
DEBERRY TELLS SDS: “(Coaches) are saying they love my versatility. That I’m an athletic big guy. I can play down and up in a two-point stance and can rush the quarterback and drop into coverage and my blitzing.”
SDS PREDICTION: If he goes SEC, we’ll go with Tennessee.

Editor’s note: For this particular series, Saturday Down South’s order for ‘likely SEC recruits’ is determined using the 247Sports.com industry composite ranking (as of June 1st ranking).
