Uncommitted countdown: Best 30 SEC targets available- No. 11 Terry Beckner, DE

SDS will count down the 30 biggest SEC targets still available around the country–these are the players SDS thinks realistically will end up signing with SEC schools. Obviously there are players with SEC offers out west and up north, but if it looks like they aren’t seriously considering the SEC, we didn’t include them in this series.

Here’s a day-by-day ‘month of June’ look at the top 30 realistic SEC targets left in the country, ranking them from No. 30 down to No. 1 on June 30th.

No. 11 – Terry Beckner, DE, East St. Louis (Ill.), 6-4/295

SEC OFFERS: Auburn, Florida, LSU, Mizzou, Tennessee, Texas A&M.
NAT. RANKING: No. 22 overall prospect in America.
NAT. POS. RANKING: No. 3 strong side defensive end in America.
THE SKINNY: Beckner … the clear-cut No. 1 player in his home state of Illinois … is big and fast and quick and, need we say more? Everybody wants him, but he has been on Mizzou’s campus and loves the situation. This would be a monster ‘get’ for the Tigers. Southern Cal and Ohio State fans will go home pouting. There was a time when it appeared they had an upper hand here, but Mizzou is certainly a factor these days.
SDS PREDICTION: Hey, he said it himself this spring … Mizzou leads. We’ll go with the Tigers.

Editor’s note: For this particular series, Saturday Down South’s order for ‘likely SEC recruits’ is determined using the 247Sports.com industry composite ranking (as of June 1st ranking).

  • Well, I’ll tell you if he announces Mizzou and I think he will it will make my week, whatever week that is. He comes in and giving his size and quickness, immediately gets playing time on a 2015 team that should be pretty good but would have a need at end if it’s him. I feel alot better about him than Alex Ofodile, but still have have my finger crossed there as well. We lost a couple tweeners and are due one.

  • BTW Brian, really enjoying this series. Great job.

    • Thanks Mizzou …. you have to think with NStrong going there, Beckner follows. I wouldn’t have said this 3 or 4 months ago. He seemed more swayed by the USCs and Ohio States, but I think he’s wising up.
