Uncommitted countdown: Best 30 SEC targets available- No. 1 Trent Thompson, DT

NCAA Football: Georgia Southern at Georgia

SDS will count down the 30 biggest SEC targets still available around the country–these are the players SDS thinks realistically will end up signing with SEC schools. Obviously there are players with SEC offers out west and up north, but if it looks like they aren’t seriously considering the SEC, we didn’t include them in this series.

Here’s a day-by-day ‘month of June’ look at the top 30 realistic SEC targets left in the country, ranking them from No. 30 down to No. 1 on June 30th.

No. 1 – Trent Thompson, DT, Albany (Ga.), 6-4/295

SEC OFFERS: Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky Mississippi State, South Carolina, Tennessee.
NAT. RANKING: No. 1 overall prospect in America.
NAT. POS. RANKING: No. 1 defensive tackle in America.
THE SKINNY: Thompson is an incredibly talented and incredibly jovial defensive tackle, and whoever gets him will get the full package. He’s like a speeding bowling ball in the backfield, and that’s why the whole country wants him–and why he’s the No. 1 overall prospect in America.
THOMPSON TELLS SDS: “I’m embracing all of this, it’s a blessing. I’m going to take my time with it. You can only pick one team, and I’m going to try to take advantage of my time. I don’t want to make an early commitment because my word is my bond. I’m looking for a family, a relationship, and if you win too, that’s just the icing on the cake.”
SDS PREDICTION: Georgia Bulldogs.

Editor’s note: For this particular series, Saturday Down South’s order for ‘likely SEC recruits’ is determined using the 247Sports.com industry composite ranking (as of June 1st ranking).
