Aside from actually getting the win, there weren’t too many positives during the Florida Gators victory over Miami Saturday night.

Perhaps the biggest positive was Florida’s dominant pass rush that controlled most of the game. Todd Grantham’s defense brought pressure, but even the Gators were sacking Miami’s Jarren Williams with a three-man pass rush.

Florida had an eye-popping 10 sacks against Miami, the most of any SEC team since 2008. It wasn’t just one dominant player either. Nine Florida defenders recorded at least a partial sack. Linebacker Ventrell Miller stood above the rest recording two sacks. The redshirt sophomore racked up five total tackles, including the two sacks. Pass rush specialists Jabari Zuniga and Louisville transfer Jon Greenard combined for three sacks and five tackles for loss.

Miami did start two freshmen offensive tackles, and the Gators likely won’t be having a field day against many SEC teams this season. The Hurricanes offensive line struggled to bust a grape all night, and the Gators defensive line helped preserve the win late in the fourth quarter.
