Now that we’ve reached the point of the season in which the College Football Playoff picture is beginning to take shape, our friends over at College Spun on Wednesday published a story revealing the ’10 fan bases most deserving of a national championship’

Fan bases were graded on a variety of factors, including many that have been through years of painful losses and endless torment, enough suffering to warrant a title run this fall.

10 fan bases most deserving of a championship in 2015

  1. CLEMSON
  2. BAYLOR
  3. OKLAHOMA STATE
  4. OKLAHOMA
  5. MICHIGAN STATE
  6. IOWA
  7. NOTRE DAME
  8. OHIO STATE
  9. LSU
  10. ALABAMA

Ranked No. 2 in the latest CFP Poll, the Crimson Tide will indeed reach the final four and have a shot at their first ring since 2012 if they win their final three regular-season games and beat Florida in the SEC Championship game.

Alabama fans can’t handle losing. Their support spans generations, but the expectations, as Nick Saban would admit, are sometimes too lofty. Most were unhappy after last season’s stellar campaign featured a league title. The loss to Ohio State was tough to stomach for a group expecting Saban’s unprecedented fourth championship in eight years.

As for LSU? We’re only one year removed from grumblings that time was running out on Les Miles in Baton Rouge after the Tigers failed to win at least 10 games for the first time in five years last fall. Before last weekend’s defeat in Tuscaloosa, LSU looked the part as the SEC favorite and one of the few elite teams in college football with a shot at dethroning the Buckeyes at the top.

There’s still hope for the SEC’s most passionate fan base, but the Tigers are going to need some help over the remainder of the season to reach Atlanta and then the final four.

Earlier this season, For The Win produced its ‘10 Most Overrated Fan Bases‘ list featuring only one school from the SEC — Florida. The reasoning? Tim Tebow.
