Tennessee’s Butch Jones, Florida’s Jim McElwain and Ole Miss’ Hugh Freeze were included in Football Scoop’s “top 10 coaches most likely to win their first national championship in 2016.

Jones (No. 7) and McElwain (No. 9) both fell under the category of “possible, but even more possible next year.” Freeze, who ranked 10th, was questioned for possibly missing his best chance last season after being the only coach to defeat Alabama, LSU and Auburn in the same season.

The list is topped by Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh and followed by Alabama alum and Clemson coach Dabo Swinney. It also noted the difficulty of winning a national championship during the dominance of Nick Saban and Urban Meyer.

Saban and Meyer have combined to win seven of the past 10 national championships — with all but one coming with SEC teams. Only Les Miles, Gus Malzahn and Jimbo Fisher have won national titles since Meyer’s first at Florida in 2006.
