We’ve already looked at some potential junior college transfers who could start next season, like Tennessee defensive end Jonathan Kongbo.

But now that the classes are signed, we have five more junior college players who could see the field very quickly in 2016.

Charles Baldwin, OT, Alabama

At 6-5, 310 pounds Baldwin, from ASA College in New York, should be able to compete for a spot at either tackle. Alabama has a nice collection of young linemen in the program he’ll go against, but Baldwin being an early enrollee and having a full spring with the coaches should help him get on the field quickly.

Mark Thompson, RB, Florida

With Kelvin Taylor gone and Jordan Scarlett having some off the field issues, the door is open for Thompson to come in and get a lot of carries as Jim McElwain tries to build a power running game to help his young quarterbacks. Thompson, a product of Dodge City Community College in Kansas, certainly has the size (6-2, 225) to be used as a short-yardage back at the least.

Natereace Strong, RB, Missouri

Missouri is in a similar boat to Florida in that the Tigers are looking for someone to be the feature back to support a young quarterback. With Russell Hansbrough gone, the spot could go to Strong, a well built (6-1, 200) prospect from Hinds Community College in Mississippi. Strong won’t be an early enrollee so he’ll have to impress coaches in summer camp.

Tre Brown, DT, Mississippi State

Brown is a big body (6-4, 295) with decent athleticism at a major need position for the Bulldogs. Brown, from Copiah-Lincoln College in Mississippi, will likely be a major part of the defense this fall as they did a good job of recruiting defensive linemen during this past cycle.

Jamarcus King, DB, South Carolina

King, out of Coffeyville Community College in Kansas, had been on Will Muschamp’s radar since he was the defensive coordinator at Auburn. Although King won’t join the Gamecocks until the summer, Muschamp and defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson have high hopes for the nation’s top junior college cornerback prospect.
