Chris Allen grew up in Baton Rouge, playing for Southern University Lab School while becoming a four-star linebacker prospect and a key target for both LSU and Alabama.

Allen surprised many when he committed to the Crimson Tide over the Tigers in November, and judging by what he had to say recently, he won’t be very popular in his hometown after comments he made on an ESPN Radio show.

Allen said one of the reasons he chose the Crimson Tide over the Tigers because of the recent history of the rivalry:

“Mainly because, probably, every year … they’re beating LSU. And they’re winning national championships,” Allen said on the Culotta & The Fan show on 104.5/104.9 ESPN-FM in Baton Rouge.

“Even though this year they didn’t win it, they made it there. They made it to the big game. So, that’s a huge attraction.”

Though LSU fans won’t be happy to hear Allen say that, the four-star linebacker did have something nice to say about defensive coordinator Dave Aranda:

“He’s great. He’s really good,” Allen said. “The Louisville game, I got to see that. That was an amazing game by the defense.”

According to 247Sports, Allen is the No. 9 outside linebacker in the class of 2017 and the No. 4 overall recruit from the state of Louisiana.
