The SEC is loaded with freshmen who were stud recruits and other underclassmen who could leave early for the NFL, but here at Saturday Down South we don’t want to overlook the talented seniors who stuck around for a fourth season and are excelling for their teams. Here are five of the SEC’s top performances from seniors during the fifth week of the season.

KENTRELL BROTHERS

The senior linebacker from Missouri has been dealing with some injuries the past few weeks, but it is barely slowing him down. He missed out on yet another double-digit tackle game, but he finished the defeat of South Carolina second on the team with seven tackles and was a big part of keeping pressure on Gamecocks quarterback Lorenzo Nunez. Brothers finished with 1.5 tackles for a loss, including half a sack.

REGGIE RAGLAND

The entire Alabama defense had an outstanding game in the blowout over Georgia on Saturday, but the senior linebacker led the way with eight tackles and also broke up a pass. The statistics are impressive enough, but sometimes the leadership and mentality Ragland brings doesn’t show up on the stat sheet. The Crimson Tide was ready for everything Georgia tried and Ragland was a huge part of that.

TRA CARSON

The Texas A&M running game has been much improved this season and it is mostly because of Carson, who had another huge game this week in the win versus Mississippi State. Carson rushed 26 times for 110 yards and a touchdown. He also had a catch for 13 yards. He’s one of several SEC backs having an outstanding season under the radar as LSU’s Leonard Fournette steals most of the spotlight.

DAK PRESCOTT

The Bulldogs couldn’t get past Texas A&M, but it wasn’t because of a lack of production at quarterback. Prescott completed 20 of 34 passes for 210 yards and didn’t throw an interception. He also rushed 18 times for 96 yards and a touchdown to lead Mississippi State in that category. The Bulldogs aren’t a threat to win the SEC West this season, but Prescott is having another fine year.

BRANDON ALLEN

Arkansas got back on the winning track with an upset over Tennessee, and it was quarterback Brandon Allen leading the way. He completed just 11 of 24 passes, but it was enough for 219 yards and a touchdown without an interception. He also carried six times for 23 yards and his 33-yard touchdown pass early in the second quarter brought the Razorbacks back from an early 14-0 deficit.
