We witnessed some classic games last week, thanks to two controversial calls (or no calls) and nail-biting finishes in the South Carolina – Georgia and Kentucky – Florida game. This week hopes to provide just as much excitement with some great match ups within the conference as well as a few non-conference clashes.

Here are Week 4’s most interesting games in the SEC.

Auburn vs. Kansas State (Thursday on ESPN – 7:30 p.m.)

The lowdown: SEC fans will be treated to an exciting non-conference match up early this week as the Auburn Tigers travel to Manhattan, Kan. to take on the Kansas State Wildcats in a Top-20 showdown. Credit Auburn for scheduling a tough road non-conference game early in the season.

This game will feature a number of offensive stars. KSU quarterback Jake Waters will take center stage for the Wildcats. As one of the nation’s most underrated signal callers, Waters is big dual-threat quarterback that can provide immense challenges for opposing defense. What makes Waters so special is that he’s a great passer, despite being a dual-threat quarterback.

It’s unclear how KSU’s defense will hold up against Auburn’s dynamic offense, but the Wildcats have made it clear this week that they aren’t scared of the defending SEC champions.

Florida vs Alabama (Saturday on CBS – 3:30 p.m.)

The lowdown: In a clash of some bigger schools in the SEC, Florida’s showdown with Alabama figures to be a real physical football game. Will Muschamp and his team come into this game searching for a big upset, hoping to make a big statement about their contention for an SEC title this season. After a triple overtime victory against Kentucky last week, it’s unclear just what kind of Florida team we’ll see in Tuscaloosa come Saturday afternoon, but they have the talent to hang with the Crimson Tide.

Alabama, on the other hand, will be kicking off it’s conference schedule this weekend against the Gators. It’s been rather easy going for the Crimson Tide so far in 2014, but with some question marks in the secondary and at quarterback, Nick Saban’s team seems far more vulnerable this season than in years past. Nevertheless, the home field advantage of Bryant-Denny Stadium should still give Alabama the upper hand in this match up as Saban takes on Muschamp, his former assistant coach.

If that’s not enough for you, the match up between Gators cornerback Vernon Hargreaves and Alabama wide receiver Amari Cooper – two of college football’s best players – should be reason enough to tune in.

Mississippi State vs LSU (Saturday on ESPN – 7:00 p.m.)

The lowdown: Finally, the opportunity is here for Mississippi State to prove they’re worth the hype. We’ve seen this same story before – the Bulldogs garnering a lot of recognition until they face a formidable opponent and come up empty. Well this season could be the year they actually get over the hump. Dan Mullen’s squad features top dual-threat quarterback Dak Prescott, who is en fuego to start the season. Along with Prescott, Mississippi State also boasts several offensive playmakers around him as well as a stingy and opportunistic defense.

LSU is LSU again, leaning heavily on their strong depth at running back and arguably one of Les Miles’ best defensive units he’s had at LSU. It’s a night game at Tiger Stadium, which certainly makes things much tougher for MSU, but if they want to finally be taken seriously in the SEC West, Saturday night is the perfect opportunity for them.
