Elite four-star safety eyeing three SEC schools in Top 5
The SEC is known for its elite defensive back play over the last decade, and one of the country’s premier safeties is high on three SEC schools.
Four-star Deontay Anderson (Manvel, TX) likes LSU, Ole Miss and Texas A&M in his Top 5, along with Southern Cal and Texas, according to ESPN’s Recruiting Nation. Although they aren’t listed, Florida, Georgia and Mississippi State are also under consideration.
Anderson told ESPN he talks to LSU DB coach Corey Raymond everyday, and he called the Tigers ‘DBU’. He also likes how the people around the Ole Miss program are so genuine, and he feels like he can be successful in Oxford. Anderson noted how close Texas A&M is to home, and how the Aggies are a good fit.
The 6-1, 192-pound prospect is the country’s No. 44 overall prospect, No. 8 overall prospect in Texas and the No. 3 overall safety in the country, according to 247Sports’ Composite Rankings.
