The College World Series is down to two SEC teams: the Florida Gators and LSU Tigers.

The LSU Tigers, the SEC’s conference champion, took down the perceived best team in college baseball Oregon State in back-to-back games. Mind you, the Beavers hadn’t been beaten in back-to-back games in over a year. The Tigers managed to scratch and claw their way to the championship with a 6-1 win Saturday afternoon. LSU also beat Florida State twice to get to the championship series.

The Florida Gators, on the other hand, just had to beat TCU once, starting Friday night. Although the Horned Frogs beat the Gators in the first game, Florida came back and won Saturday night behind ace Alex Faedo 3-0. The Gators also beat Louisville to get the championship series.

Florida finished 2-1 against LSU during the regular season.

After having played in a Super Regional at Florida State during my college career at UCF, I can only imagine the experience in Omaha. Just to get to the World Series is a massive accomplishment, but to actually play in the championship series, it would be incredible.

SEC baseball is alive and well, and things are only going to get better in the conference. Players, coaches and fans of these two teams will certainly never forget this experience.

Game one is Monday night at 7:00 p.m. ET.
