After Alabama DB Tony Brown sped his way into the NCAA Track and Field Championships with a 10.39-second 100-meter dash on Friday, it may be surprising to see him at No. 15 on NFL.com’s list of the 17 fastest college football players.

However, that’s not a knock on Brown — there are simply a surplus of talented speedsters taking their talents to the gridiron these days.

With a 40-yard dash time of 4.24 seconds, it’s no surprise to see LSU DB Donte Jackson at the top of the list (which can be found here), joined by three of his fellow SEC defensive backs:

  • No. 1 — Donte Jackson, CB, LSU
  • No. 7 — Javaris Davs, CB, Auburn
  • No. 8 — Brandon Bryant, S, Mississippi State
  • No. 15 — Tony Brown, DB, Alabama

If Brown can snag the NCAA title in the 100m event, perhaps he’ll make his way further up this list. For now, though, he’ll have to settle for being a part of a group of SEC West defenders that will make life very difficult on opposing quarterbacks and wide receivers this fall.
