ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit revealed his four best teams during Saturday’s College GameDay segment at the Big Ten title game venue in Indianapolis, IN.

“I have Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State and Michigan as my top four as far as who I think the best teams are,” Herbstreit said.

Alabama has left no doubt that it’s earned the right as the country’s best team entering championship weekend, and Clemson can make a strong case for No. 2 or 3 with a win over Virginia Tech in tonight’s ACC championship. Ohio State, despite not playing in the Big Ten title, looks like the best option for another playoff spot at this point.

Michigan has been at the top of the top 25 rankings throughout the regular season, but with two losses, is on the outside looking in for tomorrow’s Selection Sunday. Still, it’ll be interesting to see what the committee would do if the Hokies eliminate Clemson, as U-M would then have a shot to sneak in alongside Washington and/or the winner between Penn State-Wisconsin.
