East Mississippi Community College will get a chance to redeem itself this season, both on the field and now off it, in the second season of the acclaimed documentary series Last Chance U.  Netflix renewed the series for another season Monday, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The first season of the show followed the 2015 EMCC team as it tried to win its third junior college national championship in a row, only to be disqualified from the playoffs following the notorious brawl with Mississippi Delta in the regular season finale. Former players to attend EMCC include Ole Miss quarterbacks Chad Kelly and Bo Wallace.

Auburn quarterback John Franklin III was a backup on the 2015 EMCC team. The team’s starting quarterback was Wyatt Roberts. Roberts has since joined Mississippi State as a walk-on.

Netflix VP of original documentary programming Lisa Nishimura released a statement following the news.

“We are thrilled to continue our relationship with Greg Whiteley who has genuinely captured both the struggles and triumphs these young men face in a world that often seems designed to hold them back,” Nishimura said. “Coach Buddy Stephens, Academic Advisor Brittany Wagner and the entire team at EMCC have bravely opened their doors for the filmmakers to capture their real world as it unfolds. We eagerly anticipate having a front row seat as they continue to fight for their dreams in the coming season.”

Hard to imagine the second season ending on quite the same high level as the first did season just did. If you’ve yet to see it, it’s great offseason content to get you geared up for the upcoming season.
