Most media outlets that cover the NFL have released a mock draft (or two or many) in anticipation of next weekend’s NFL Draft in Chicago.

The Associated Press joined that list of media outlets Sunday, publishing its own mock draft in advance of the draft, which begins Thursday evening.

The AP’s Barry Wilner published the mock draft, and he included nine former SEC stars in his first round, including four in his top 10 (although none in his top 5). He predicted Todd Gurley will fall to No. 24, and that players like Kentucky’s Bud Dupree and Mississippi State’s Preston Smith would fall out of the first round entirely, but also predicted the SEC would have the most first-round selections of any conference in America.

Here’s where Wilner pegged the SEC’s best and brightest in his mock draft:

  • No. 5: DE/LB Dante Fowler Jr. (Florida) — Washington Redskins
  • No. 7: WR Amari Cooper (Alabama) — Chicago Bears
  • No. 8: DE/LB Shane Ray (Missouri) — Atlanta Falcons
  • No. 9: OT La’el Collins (LSU) — New York Giants
  • No. 20: S Landon Collins (Alabama) — Philadelphia Eagles
  • No. 22: CB Jalen Collins (LSU) — Pittsburgh Steelers
  • No. 24: RB Todd Gurley (Georgia) — Arizona Cardinals
  • No. 29: OT D.J. Humphries (Florida) — Indianapolis Colts
  • No. 30: LB Benardrick McKinney (Miss. St.) — Green Bay Packers

For what it’s worth, the mock draft also predicted Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston will go No. 1 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and that reigning Heisman winner Marcus Mariota will go No. 2 to the Tennessee Titans.
