The NCAA for not caring about student-athletes, being money-hungry and overall incompetent.

However, the NCAA made a decision on Tuesday that should be garnering praises from everyone. Then again, most people will criticize the governing body for not permitting it sooner.

According to ESPN’s Tom VanHaaren, the NCAA is allowing schools to pay for official visits from two parents/guardians during an official visit from a recruit.

The rule, which will pay for their round-trip costs, will go into effect on Aug. 1 of this year. VanHaaren reports that the vote was almost unanimous at 14-1 with only the Sun Belt Conference opposing it, according to the NCAA’s Division I Council report.

Transportation and meals will be covered by the new rule.

Under the current rule which will only be in place for approximately another three-and-a-half months, permitted just the recruit’s travel and accommodations to be paid for while not allowing schools to do the same for relatives, legal guardians or friends.
