Six SEC teams hosted games in Week 8, and as usual those games had huge turnouts.

Alabama drew the largest crowd of the weekend, attracting 101,821 fans to Bryant-Denny Stadium and rewarding those fans with a 59-0 rout of Texas A&M. The Tide sold out its home stadium, but that accomplishment seems rather modest considering there were three SEC games that exceeded stadium capacity in Week 8.

Ole Miss drew the smallest crowd of the weekend, but it still exceeded capacity in Vaught-Hemingway Stadium by 2.5 percent to pack its stadium better than any other SEC host. Florida exceeded the capacity in the Swamp for its homecoming game against Missouri, but most of those fans didn’t make it to the fourth quarter of a 42-13 blowout.

Arkansas took on Georgia at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock instead of its home stadium in Fayetteville, and the Razorbacks exceeded capacity for the big game in the state capital. Unfortunately, Arkansas lost 45-32 to extend its SEC losing streak to 16 games.

South Carolina was the only SEC team to host a non-SEC team when it played host to Furman of the FCS last weekend. The Gamecocks drew 78,101 fans to Williams-Brice Stadium, only managing to reach 97.3 percent capacity for the game. The only other game to fall short of full capacity was LSU’s showdown with Kentucky in Death Valley. The Bayou Bengals attracted more than 101,000 fans, but only reached 99 percent capacity for a home night game, a rare non-sellout under those circumstances.
