It’s the last chance for many players to make a lasting impression on the 2015 regular season as it enters its final week. And what better time to leave an indelible image than during Rivalry Week. Of course, it also opens the door for some players to act the goat.

Here is a look at a few players in the SEC that have the matchups to go boom and a few that will go bust during Week 13 play in the conference.

BOOMS

  1. RB Leonard Fournette How long can Leonard Fournette’s slide last? After rushing for an absurd 1,352 yards (193.1 YPG) in his first seven games, the LSU running back has returned to earth with just 220 yards (73.3 YPG) in his last three tilts. With the sophomore failing to carry the offense, the Tigers have limped to three straight defeats. If there was a matchup that favored the New Orleans native, it’s the Tigers’ Week 13 contest against Texas A&M. The Aggies surrender 202.5 YPG, second-worst in the SEC behind South Carolina. Fournette and LSU are desperate for a big game or the fallout in Baton Rouge might include coach Les Miles’ job.
  2. QB Dak Prescott Dak Prescott is coming off a career-high 508-yard performance against a porous Arkansas secondary. This week, the Mississippi State senior draws Ole Miss, the conference’s second-most porous pass defense. Prescott wraps up his stellar collegiate career with an Egg Bowl contest against a Rebels team that gives up 255.2 YPG and ranks No. 100 in the nation. But the Haughton, La., native hasn’t had much success against Ole Miss. In three games, he’s thrown for 35, 115 and 282 yards, for a total of 432 yards. But this year’s Ole Miss squad isn’t exactly known for playing in too many “defensive struggles,” yielding an average of 26.1 points per game in SEC play. When it comes to shootouts, we’ll take Prescott any day of the week.
  3. Georgia Offensive Line No one in the nation gives up fewer tackles-for-loss than Georgia. The Bulldogs allow one of their ball carriers to be dropped behind the line of scrimmage at a paltry rate of 3.55 times per game. It’s a different story for Georgia Tech, the Bulldogs’ Week 13 opponent. The Yellow Jackets are among the worst in the country when it comes to tackles-for-loss. In fact, only Georgia Southern (UGA’s Week 12 foe, ironically), New Mexico State and Navy give up more. Adam Gotsis leads Georgia Tech with 3.0 sacks on the year — the same total he’ll finish with after facing Georgia’s offensive line in the season-finale.

BUSTS

  1. QB Drew Barker Drew Barker had a solid debut as Kentucky signal-caller, throwing for 129 yards and allowing the Wildcat running backs to guide UK to a 58-10 win over Charlotte. The redshirt freshman, who replaced the benched Patrick Towles (2,077 yards, 9 TDs), gets a less-friendly matchup in Week 13 when Kentucky plays host to Louisville. The Cardinals aren’t particularly friendly to opposing teams, limiting opponents with its No. 17-ranked defense to just 205.2 YPG via the pass. Expect some growing pains from the redshirt freshman in his second career start.
  2. QB Perry Orth Perry Orth has put up respectable numbers since taking over as South Carolina’s starting quarterback in Week 6 against LSU. The junior has thrown for 1,427 yards (237.8 YPG) and nine touchdowns as the Gamecocks’ starter. Orth is even coming off a career-best 367-yard effort against The Citadel. Unfortunately for the Ponta Vedra, Fla., native, he draws a Clemson defense that is not only one of the best in the nation, but it’s champing at the bit to put the finishing touches on an undefeated season and do so against its most-bitter rival. The Tigers have the No. 5-ranked defense in the country, led by its third-ranked secondary which gives up just 155.4 YPG. Clemson has too much on the line to show any mercy, especially on the Gamecocks. Won’t be pretty in Columbia.
  3. PKs Cole Hedlund and Hayden Lekacz Not cool to pick on placekickers, I know, but Arkansas’ Cole Hedlund is a dubious candidate to bust this week. Hedlund had his 24-yard, potential game-winner blocked by Mississippi State’s Beniquez Brown last week to snap the Razorbacks’ four-game win streak. Hedlund and Arkansas go up against Missouri in Week 13 and Kentrell Brothers, who is tied with Rob Bain of Illinois, Sharif Finch of Temple and Southern Methodist’s Zach Wood for the national lead with three blocked kicks on the season. Lekacz and Vanderbilt face Tennessee.
