Every week throughout the season, we’ll provide some video highlights of the SEC’s top commits.

SEC Commits

Antonneous Clayton, DE, 4-star Florida commit (Vienna, Ga.)

Earlier this morning Florida got a nice wakeup call when Clayton, one of the nation’s top pass rushing recruits, chose the Gators over SEC rivals Auburn and Tennessee.

With incredible speed and length for a 6-foot-3, 233- pound defensive end, Clayton should provide an added boost to a Gators pass rush that’s already proven itself more than capable of getting to opposing quarterbacks.

Braden Kopp, OT, 3-star Missouri commit (Houston, Texas)

After years of being led by strong college quarterbacks like first-rounder Blaine Gabbert and dual-threat QB James Franklin, the Tigers’ passing game has fallen off this season. The team ranks last in the SEC with 5.4 yards per attempt, which puts them 121st in the nation overall, tied with Charlotte, Boston College, and Oregon State. Not a good place to be. It’s not going to be easy for the Tigers to get back to SEC East supremacy, but it will start on the offensive recruiting trail.

One three-star offensive lineman won’t save what has become arguably the least efficient offense in the SEC, but with 20 sacks allowed this season (tied for second most in the SEC), the 6-foot-6 ,285-pound offensive lineman is certainly a welcomed addition. Just ask coach Derek Mason.

Missouri will need to add weapons in just about all areas of the offense, but the big mauler at offensive tackle brings the unit that much closer to where they were two years ago.

Darius Whitfield, DT, 3-star South Carolina commit (Mobile, Ala.)

At the bottom of the SEC standings, South Carolina has had a pretty rough season highlighted by bad losses and sudden departures. Whether the program can survive Hall-of-Fame coach Steve Spurrier’s surprising midseason exit remains to be seen, but the HBC’s exit doesn’t seem to have effected the Gamecocks too bad with potential rectuis.

Despite offers from top-tiered programs like Alabama and Florida, Whitfield decided earlier this month to play at South Carolina. With unique speed at 6-foot-3, 265-pounds, Whitfield led his St Paul’s Episcopal team in sacks with 10. The Gamecocks hope he becomes a force to be reckoned with up the middle in the SEC.
