SEC WEEK 4 NOTABLE PERFORMANCES

DEFENSIVE LINEMEN

  • Preston Smith, Mississippi State (5 tackles, sack, 2 TFL vs. LSU) — The Bulldogs’ most feared defensive linemen at this point of the season was a constant threat in LSU’s backfield, registering another sack to go along with two more tackles behind the line of scrimmage. He chased after LSU quarterback Anthony Jennings throughout the contest as the Mississippi State defense had its way up front.
  • Darrell Jackson, Texas A&M (5 tackles, sack, 3.5 TFL at SMU) — The first of two Aggies on this list, Jackson blew up the Mustangs’ offense several times Saturday with 3.5 tackles for losses.
  • Trey Flowers, Arkansas (9 tackles, sack, FF, 2 TFL vs. Northern Illinois) — Flowers notched his first sack of the season, made a season-high nine tackles and forced a fumble during the Razorbacks’ third straight victory.

LINEBACKERS

  • Kwon Alexander, LSU (13 tackles, FF vs. Mississippi State) — This playmaker was all over the field for the Tigers, managing a career-high tackle total despite a frustrating night for the rest of his squad. His strip of Dak Prescott in the third quarter was picked up for a touchdown by Danielle Hunter to pull LSU within a touchdown.
  • Shaan Washington, Texas A&M (6 tackles, 2 sacks at SMU) — Washington picked up two of Texas A&M’s season-high eight sacks in a dominant effort in Dallas.

DEFENSIVE BACKS

  • Keanu Neal, Florida (10 tackles, fumble return TD, FF at Alabama) — The end result didn’t work out the way he would have liked, but Neal made a serious impact in the Gators’ secondary, outplaying the rest of his teammates with 10 tackles and a fumble return for a touchdown. His heads up play in the first quarter gave Florida an early 14-7 lead.
