It is a milestone season for the SEC on CBS. It is the 20th consecutive year of SEC football coverage on CBS, the 15th year of the “SEC on CBS” national game of the week and 10th year of Gary Danielson and Verne Lundquist teaming up in the booth.

As the “SEC on CBS” crew gets ready to make its 2015 debut on Saturday with Louisville vs. No. 6 Auburn in Atlanta, they kicked the season off with a conference call on Monday. New in-studio analyst Rick Neuheisel also joined the discussion.

Here are some of the highlights:

  • CBSSports.com and the CBS Sports Mobile App will live stream the “SEC on CBS” games in 2015.
  • Danielson on Auburn: “When they look in the mirror they see themselves as a contender for the national championship.”
  • Neuheisel on Will Muschamp coaching defense at Auburn: “I think he’s got the pieces to put together a really good defensive team. They certainly look the part on defense, and we know what they can do offensively.”
  • Lundquist on calling “Kick Six” ending to Iron Bowl in 2013: “I don’t expect in any of our lifetimes, I can’t imagine there being anything like the drama of the last 15 minutes of that game and then the last play.”
  • Neuheisel on leaving West Coast football for SEC: “I’m still going to play close attention to what’s happening on the West Coast. I spent too much my life there to stop caring.”
  • Neuheisel on his son losing UCLA QB battle: “When he called to let me know the situation it was my job as a father to lift him up … as a UCLA fan I am pulling for Josh (Rosen).”
  • “Petrino Gate” and the timeline of Bobby’s history at Georgia Dome as Falcons head coach and as Auburn’s offensive coordinator will be heavy story lines from the production staff.
  • Danielson on the use of advanced stats for broadcast: “90 percent of it I don’t understand … I find them somewhat not as easy to explain to the fans.”
  • Improved cameras and microphones have been the focus of production improvements in 2015.
  • The biggest change will be in studio. It is a completely new set. It will be used by NFL on Sundays with small modifications.
  • Lunquist on his anticipation for getting to new Kyle Field: “Old Kyle Field had one of the worst press boxes in America and I can’t wait to see what they’ve done up there. I think we’ll get there at least once this year.”
  • Danielson on working with Lundquist: “He’s a national treasure, and we’re all lucky to have him. I’m thrilled to sit next to him.”
  • Danielson on Texas A&M: “I think they’re a threat to win the (SEC West) championship. But I also think there are seven teams capable of winning that championship, so they better buckle up.”
  • Neuheisel on Tennessee vs. Oklahoma in Week 2: “I think this is one of the most exciting games that we have on the schedule … I think the fan bases are going to be at fever pitch.”
  • Neuheisel on Tennessee in 2015: “I think they have the capacity for a big, big time season.”
  • Danielson: “The toughest team (in the SEC) for me to get a handle on is South Carolina.”
  • Neuheisel singled out South Carolina defensive end Marquavius Lewis as someone to watch this season after seeing him work at practice.
  • Danielson on the SEC being wide open: “If you wanted to take four teams, I’d be comfortable taking the field against you. But if you wanted to let me pick the four teams and you take the other 10, I would take that bet, too.”
  • Neuheisel went to watch all 14 teams practice. He believes Alabama is the deepest of all 14 teams.
  • Neuheisel picked Alabama and Georgia to play in the SEC Championship Game.
