The current SEC players showcased their supreme talent again this weekend after another exciting slate of college football games. But did the former SEC studs perform at a similar level this past Sunday in the NFL?

SDS has all the latest on how former SEC players did in their second week of the 2014 season. Here are the top performances.

QB Jay Cutler
NFL team: Chicago Bears
Former SEC team: Vanderbilt Commodores
Week 2 stats: 176 passing yards and four touchdowns

The former Vandy signal caller enjoyed a productive game in front of a national audience. Cutler tossed four passing touchdowns against a very tough San Francisco 49ers to christen San Fran’s brand new Levi Stadium in the 49ers’ regular season home-opener. Cutler initially struggled in the first half, but turned it on in the final 30 minutes, scoring on every second-half drive.

QB Peyton Manning
NFL team: Denver Broncos
Former SEC team: Tennessee Volunteers
Week 2 stats: 242 passing yards and three touchdowns

Another week, another outstanding performance for Peyton Manning. The former Tennessee Vol added another three passing touchdowns to his total on top of 242 yards in a Week 2 win over the Kansas City Chiefs. Manning has gotten off to what some consider a slower start, but he’s still putting up big numbers for the Broncos’ offense.

RB Knile Davis
NFL team: Kansas City Chiefs
Former SEC team: Arkansas Razorbacks
Week 2 stats: 22 carries, 79 rushing yards, six receptions, 26 yards and two touchdowns

Knile Davis was the beneficiary of an injury to Jamaal Charles’ ankle as the primary backup for the Kansas City Chiefs. Davis made the most of his opportunity, too, posting over 100 total yards of offense and two touchdowns. Depending on how long Charles’ injury keeps him out, Davis figures to see a significant rise in carries during that time for the Chiefs.

RB Arian Foster
NFL team: Houston Texans
Former SEC team: Tennessee Volunteers
Week 2 stats: 28 carries, 138 rushing yards, two receptions, 12 yards and one touchdown

Foster battled through a rib injury to post solid numbers in the Texans’ run game during Week 2. He received 28 carries and pounded his way on the ground for 138 yards and one touchdown. Despite some injury concerns, Foster continues to produce like a top-flight running back in the NFL.

WR Randall Cobb
NFL team: Green Bay Packers
Former SEC team: Kentucky Wildcats
Week 2 stats: Five receptions, 39 receiving yards, two touchdowns and a 2-point conversion

The do-it-all Green Bay Packers wide receiver did just that on Sunday – a little bit of everything. His numbers weren’t jaw-dropping, but the former UK playmaker hauled in five catches for 39 yards, scored two touchdowns and even converted a key 2-point conversion for the Packers. Cobb remains one of quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ favorite targets in the Packers’ offense.

Other notable performances:

  • QB Cam Newton – 281 passing yards and one touchdown
  • WR Julio Jones – Seven receptions, 88 receiving yards and one touchdown
  • QB Eli Manning – 277 passing yards and two touchdowns
  • RB Mark Ingram – 104 total yards and one touchdown
