We know Alabama and Mississippi State have all but locked in New Year’s Six bowl berths, but what about the SEC West’s other five teams, each postseason eligible except Arkansas?

RELATED: Week 12 SEC Bowl Projections

On Thursday, we looked at SEC East bowl possibilities. Here’s our thoughts on the West …

ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE (9-1, 6-1)

The Crimson Tide control their own destiny with two regular-season games remaining and are a near lock to play in a New Year’s Six bowl. At worst, Alabama finishes second in the SEC West and still has a legitimate shot at a Playoff semifinal game despite not playing in the SEC Championship.

MISSISSIPPI STATE (9-1, 6-1)

Mississippi State will at least play in a non-semifinal game if they finish with 11 victories in the regular season, but falling at Alabama complicated the Playoff picture for the once top-ranked Bulldogs.

  • Playoff Semifinal

OLE MISS REBELS (8-2, 4-2)

Believe it or not, Ole Miss still has a chance to win the SEC West by winning out and receiving from help from Auburn in the Iron Bowl. The more likely scenario is the Rebels finishing with nine wins, remaining in the Top 15 and accepting an invite to a New Year’s Six non-semifinal game.

  • Peach
  • Cotton

AUBURN TIGERS (7-3, 4-3)

It appears the Tigers will finish the regular season with eight wins, enough to push Auburn into the Citrus Bowl in Orlando. The Citrus gets it pick of SEC team after New Year’s Six selections are made and Auburn — along with Mizzou — would likely be the league’s highest-ranked teams.

LSU TIGERS (7-4, 3-4)

Back-to-back losses have damaged LSU’s bowl placement down the stretch and ended the Tigers’ shot at another 10-win season under Les Miles. Jacksonville and Nashville appear to be the best options remaining, but a matchup with Notre Dame in Charlotte would be most appetizing for viewers.

TEXAS A&M AGGIES (7-4, 3-4)

Texas A&M’s fanbase will travel which is always an attractive element during bowl selection season. The Aggies are where we expected them to be at this point of the season, losing four of their last six games. Since joining the SEC, Texas A&M hasn’t played a bowl game in Florida yet, a possible scenario if it can finish with eight wins.

ARKANSAS RAZORBACKS (5-5, 1-5)

The Razorbacks are one win away from being bowl eligible following last week’s win over LSU which snapped a 17-game skid in SEC play. Splitting remaining games against Ole Miss and Mizzou isn’t impossible, but it will be a challenge. A .500 finish puts Arkansas in a lower-tier bowl game which would still be quite a feat for Bret Bielema in his second season.
