Like most Power 5 conferences in college football, the ACC has some top-tier talent returning in 2016.

Jimbo Fisher, Florida State’s head coach, seems to believe his conference is second-to-none, with respect to the star power returning this season. He threw out the following quote at the ACC’s Media Days Friday.

Fisher is obviously going to tout the conference the Seminoles compete in, but is he right?

FSU RB Dalvin Cook rushed for 1,691 yards and 19 scores a year ago, and he’s one of the top backs in the country. There’s little doubt there.

Clemson QB Deshaun Watson threw for over 4,000 yards and accounted for 47 touchdowns. Watson and LSU RB Leonard Fournette are preseason favorites to win the Heisman Trophy this year, and most peg Clemson to get back to the College Football Playoff. Nick Saban recently touted Watson as the most dominant player since Cam Newton. That’s high praise.

As for Brad Kaaya, he’s thrown for 3,000 yards for two straight seasons at Miami, and he’s an up-and-coming prospect with respect to the NFL.

Speaking of NFL prospects, here’s Pro Football Focus’ super-early mock draft for 2017.

No. 1 Deshaun Watson (Clemson – Cleveland Browns)
No. 2 Myles Garrett (Texas A&M – San Diego Chargers)
No. 3 Derek Barnett (Tennessee – Jacksonville Jaguars)
No. 4 Desmond King (Iowa – San Francisco 49ers)
No. 5 Jalen Tabor (Florida – Tennessee Titans)
No. 6 Carl Lawson (Auburn – Detroit Lions)

Four SEC players make up the top six.

Does the SEC compare with star power? Of course it does. Is it better?

The conference will feature the top RB in the country in Leonard Fournette, the top DE in the country in Texas A&M’s Myles Garrett. The third player can go a number of different directions: Alabama’s Jonathan Allen, Tennessee’s Derek Barnett, Alabama’s Cam Robinson or Auburn’s Carl Lawson.

Sports Illustrated ranked Fournette and Garrett No. 1 and No. 2 players in the country for 2016.

Fisher may have been right, however, had he mentioned his safety Derwin James as the third player. That kid is a big-time player.

Is Jimbo Fisher right?
