ESPN football analyst Trent Dilfer could be leaving the network soon, according to a report from Sports Illustrated’s Richard Deitsch.

The Super Bowl winning quarterback is best known for his role on the Monday Night Football telecast, but he’s also prominent in the recruiting community as the leader of the Elite 11 quarterback organization.

According to the New York Daily News, Dilfer’s potential departure from ESPN could stem from a monetary issue.

Neither ESPN nor Dilfer have confirmed a departure.

According to Deitsch, ESPN gave the following response: “We are in the process of determining our NFL assignments for this fall.”

On-air talent has been leaving ESPN rather frequently during the last year.

Colin Cowherd and Skip Bayless are noticeable departures on the commentary side, and Mike Tirico and Brad Nessler are reported to be leaving on the play-by-play side. Throw in Bill Simmons’ highly public departure, and it is becoming increasingly clear that the Worldwide Leader is content to let much of its major talent walk if the asking price gets too high.

Dilfer has served as a pregame and postgame analyst alongside Ray Lewis, Steve Young and Steve Levy live at Monday Night Football locations, and has also done color commentating during ESPN Monday Night Football doubleheaders.
