Tennessee fans are still dealing with the disappointment of last weekend’s loss at Florida, and while some analysts are lining up to take shots at the Volunteers coaching staff, there can’t be much criticism in terms of taking care of the football.

In the latest exhibit in the “stats can’t prove everything” debate, Tennessee leads the SEC in turnover margin after Week 4. Despite some other issues, the Vols only have two turnovers all season.

Another 2-2 team, South Carolina, is tied with Ole Miss for second. The Rebels lead the league with 10 total takeaways while the Gamecocks rank highly because they’re careful with the football (three turnovers).

LSU is alone in fourth place in the turnover margin rankings and are the only team in the FBS that has yet to turn the ball over — though it must be noted that the Tigers have played only three games.

Auburn and Vanderbilt are alone in the cellar with a minus-5 turnover margin. The Tigers are last in the league with nine turnovers while the Commodores and Alabama are only slightly better with eight.

Here’s a look at the SEC’s turnover scoreboard through Week 4:

Rank Team Turn. Margin Fum. Rec. Int. Total Lost
1 Tennessee 5 3 4 2
2 Mississippi 4 3 7 6
2 South Carolina 4 1 6 3
4 LSU 3 1 2 0
5 Florida 2 3 4 5
5 Kentucky 2 2 4 4
5 Georgia 2 0 5 3
8 Texas A&M 0 3 3 6
8 Missouri 0 2 4 6
8 Arkansas 0 2 3 5
11 Alabama -1 3 4 8
12 Mississippi State -2 0 3 5
13 Auburn -5 2 2 9
13 Vanderbilt -5 1 2 8

There’s a logjam atop the fumble recovery charts as five different teams have cashed in on three opponents’ fumbles so far in 2015.

Alabama is recovering fumbles at a 75 percent clip, while Florida and Tennessee are batting .500.

Georgia and Mississippi State are the two SEC schools that have yet to recover a fumble. MSU is a statistically unlikely 0 for 4 while Georgia is an even-more-bizarre 0 for 7. In 2014, the national average for recovery rate was around 50 percent.

In addition, Mississippi State has also lost a league-high five fumbles, while LSU and Kentucky have yet to do so.

Here’s a look at the fumble scoreboard through four weeks, indicating a team’s fumble recoveries, its own fumbles, its opponents’ fumbles and the rate for recovering those opponent fumbles so far this season:

Rank Name Fumbles Rec. Opp. Fum. Fum. Lost Rec. %
