For more than 50 SEC players, their dreams of playing in the NFL aren’t over just yet.

Auburn’s Nick Marshall and Mississippi’s Cody Prewitt, the most notable undrafted players, each signed contracts on Saturday, minutes after the seventh round concluding Day 3 was over in Chicago.

Marshall, a dual-threat quarterback with the Tigers, will try and make the Jacksonville Jaguars as a defensive back. Prewitt will stay at his natural safety position and perhaps provide depth with the Tennessee Titans.

Consensus All-American and Rimington Trophy winner Reese Dismukes wasn’t one of the 256 names called over the weekend, but he’ll have a shot with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Teams questioned Dismukes’ size — 6-foot-3, 300 pounds — and hand size compared to other players at his position.

SEC quarterbacks Bo Wallace and Dylan Thompson with the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers, respectively. Alabama’s Blake Sims didn’t sign, but will have an early-week tryout with the Green Bay Packers who selected UCLA signal caller Brett Hundley on Saturday.

Among the other notable free agent signings:

  • Mississippi State’s offensive line trio of Blaine Clausell, Dillon Day and Ben Beckwith have all signed contracts.
  • Florida led the SEC with eight draft selections and had four other players sign undrafted free agent deals.
  • David Andrews, a multi-year All-SEC center at Georgia, was picked up by the New England Patriots.
  • Tennessee cornerback Justin Coleman is headed to Minnesota after the Vols’ 51-year streak of having a player drafted was snapped on Day 3.
  • Auburn leads the SEC with nine free agent signings.
