NOTE: The 247SportsESPN 300 and Scout prospect rankings were all considered when forming this list.

1. Martez Ivey, Apopka, Fla.

  • Offers: Florida, Auburn, LSU, Alabama, Clemson
  • National Rank: No. 2 247Sports; No. 5 ESPN300; No. 3 Scout
  • The Skinny: Ivey remains the highest-ranked uncommitted player according to the big boards of all three recruiting services, and at this point in the recruiting process he is considering almost exclusively SEC schools. Ivey hasn’t made any official visits to schools since the recruiting dead period was lifted, but he is one of a number of prospects from the state of Florida giving more and more consideration to Jim elElwain and the Florida Gators since the dead period ended. McElwain has had a limited amount of time to hit the recruiting trail, but he’s clearly made an impression on Ivey as the star offensive tackle has Florida near the top of his list.

2. Byron Cowart, Seffner, Fla.

  • Offers: Florida, Auburn
  • National Rank: No. 3 247Sports; No. 1 ESPN300; No. 8 Scout
  • The Skinny: Cowart announced last week following a visit to Auburn that he’s limited his list of candidates to two schools — Florida and Auburn. Like Ivey, Cowart is a Florida prospect whom McElwain and his staff have pursued aggressively since the dead period ended (McElwain’s staff reportedly took Cowart’s mother out for a meal almost immediately after the dead period came to a close). Cowart had to cut his official visit to Auburn short last weekend when his mom was called into work, but the part of the visit he did make featured a number of fellow four- and five-star visitors accompanying him, and those fellow touted prospects in combination with new Auburn defensive coordinator Will Muschamp may be too enticing a combination to turn down.

3. Iman Marshall, Long Beach, Calif.

  • Offers: USC, LSU, Michigan, Florida State, Notre Dame
  • National Rank: No. 4 247Sports; No. 4 ESPN300; No. 7 Scout
  • The Skinny: Marshall, a California native, is reportedly giving USC major consideration as the recruiting process winds down, but the five-star cornerback has not finished weighing his options just yet. In the last two weeks he’s made official visits to Florida State, Michigan and LSU, and recently new Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh made an in-home visit to see Marshall and try and woo him to come to Ann Arbor. Harbaugh is a proven coach with plenty of buzz surrounding his name, and like McElwain at Florida he’s had to act swiftly to try and salvage a strong recruiting class. Marshall could be the cornerstone of the class, and Harbaugh has not been shy in trying to steal him away from his home-state Trojans.

4. CeCe Jefferson, Glen Saint Mary, Fla.

  • Offers: Ole Miss, Florida, LSU, Auburn, Alabama
  • National Rank: No. 7 247Sports; No. 9 ESPN300; No. 13 Scout
  • The Skinny: Jefferson is only considering SEC schools at this time, and he’s made it known that he’s keeping his options open until the end of the recruiting process arrives. The five-star defensive end has been active on Twitter, engaging the fan bases of the many schools he’s considering, including Ole Miss and Florida, which many consider to be his top choices at this time. He recently took a visit to Auburn along with a number of other top prospects, and he still has an official visit to LSU scheduled for this weekend. With National Signing Day just days away, it may still be too early to tell where Jefferson will land.

5. Terry Beckner Jr., East St. Louis, Ill.

  • Offers: Missouri, Ohio State, Auburn, Florida State, LSU
  • National Rank: No. 13 247Sports; No. 2 ESPN300; No. 40 Scout
  • The Skinny: Beckner continues to heavily consider Missouri, which will have produced six NFL defensive lineman in the last five years by the time April’s draft has come and gone. The Tigers retained longtime defensive line coach Craig Kuligowski on Monday, and Beckner is scheduled to make an official visit to Columbia this weekend. The Illinois native is still considering Ohio State, Florida State and a few other SEC schools, but until he visits Mizzou it will be tough to gauge which way he’s leaning.
