SEC football resumes Saturday at noon ET as Ole Miss hosts New Mexico State. There are a total of five games with at least one conference member on the day.

Brian Edwards, a long-time Las Vegas handicapper with an emphasis on SEC football, will provide his thoughts and insights on the line moves throughout the 2015 season. On Friday, we asked Edwards which team is the current SEC East favorite. here’s how he responded.

“It’s hard to say which team is the SEC East favorite right now, because you know how these things can change week to week. Florida could lose to Missouri and Georgia could beat Tennessee and then everybody’s saying that Georgia is the favorite.

“Missouri is still very much in this mix. If Florida loses to Missouri, then Kentucky is still in this mix. Right now it’s a three-team race. Tennessee needs a lot of help, but if they beat Georgia, they’re still in this race.

“The Westgate Superbook had Georgia as a 10-point favorite against Florida last week. It was down to 5.5 this week. I don’t agree with that at all. I have it right at a pick ’em right now. I would say Florida right now but not by much. Odds-wise, if I were the bookie, I would probably make Florida and Georgia the same.

“I would say Florida is a slight favorite. They’ve got a one-game lead. This is probably going to come down to Florida and Georgia in Jacksonville, although there are other games.

“Kentucky really wants Missouri to beat Florida because the Wildcats have the tiebreaker between those two teams. If Missouri wins and Tennessee wins, the Vols maybe are still part of the East Division race as well.

“Expectations at Florida are always sky high. They have not been sky high over the last couple of years. There’s a level of excitement in Gainesville that’s palpable. How is this team going to handle all that going against one of the top three or four defenses in the SEC, and stats-wise one of the better defenses in the country?”
