Commentator Verne Lundquist has been a staple within the SEC community for over a decade.

“Uncle Verne” — as he’s affectionately referred to by many — has been calling SEC games on CBS for 17 seasons. During this time period, the SEC has won nine national championships. Lundquist may have been a lucky charm all this time.

On Saturday, he called his final SEC contest on CBS — the conference title game between Alabama and Florida. The network created this emotional heartfelt tribute in honor of Lundquist. A revered and lovable character, he will always have a place in the hearts of those bred on SEC football.

Many across the country will also dearly miss his iconic calls, such as “Oh Wow!” and “Oh my gosh!”
