The regular season has concluded, and I have to say, the SEC didn’t exactly end on a high note. Many of the good teams in this conference lost in the final week, ending the season on a whimper.

Perhaps more than any other year in recent memory, it’s Alabama and everybody else.

Regardless, here’s our attempt at the power rankings at the conclusion of Rivalry Week.

14. Missouri

Last week: 14

Skinny: Missouri got a great win against Arkansas. It’s been a rough year for the Tigers, but Barry Odom getting a key SEC win before the end of the year will give his staff a little momentum going into the offseason.

13. Ole Miss

Last week: 9

Skinny: Ole Miss is in a free fall. The Rebs lost five of their last seven games, capped by getting smoked in the Egg Bowl. What a rough way to end the season in what was supposed to be a promising 2016 campaign. The Rebs get the No. 13 slot, but it was tempting to move them to No. 14.

12. Mississippi State

Last week: 13

Skinny: How about Nick Fitzgerald, who continues to put up big numbers? While it was a forgettable year for the Bulldogs, Mississippi State finished with a great Egg Bowl victory.

11. South Carolina

Last week: 10

Skinny: South Carolina got crushed by Clemson, but the Gamecocks are still going bowling. I guess that’s good?

10. Vanderbilt

Last week: 12

Skinny: With the huge win over Tennessee, Derek Mason doesn’t need your APR exception. His team is going bowling with a 6-6 regular-season record.

9. Arkansas

Last week: 8

Skinny: Bret Bielema and the Hogs lose to Missouri in the final week and fail to eclipse the over-under win total of 7 wins set by Vegas in the preseason. The 7-5 Hogs will go bowling, but it doesn’t feel like Arkansas is progressing much under Bielema. Thus is life in the SEC West.

8. Kentucky

Last week: 11

Skinny: What a statement win for Mark Stoops. The Cats knocked off Louisville to finish the regular season 7-5. Well done, fellas.

7. Tennessee

Last week: 6

Skinny: It was a horrendous loss for Tennessee and Butch Jones. Losing to Vanderbilt in the final week of the year leaves many questions regarding the coaching staff in Knoxville. Jones didn’t do himself any favors Saturday.

6. Texas A&M

Last week: 7

Skinny: Texas A&M needed to beat LSU to secure some postseason momentum and perhaps even land a Sugar Bowl bid, but they failed to do so on Thanksgiving night. This Aggies team feels so different than it did in October.

5. Georgia

Last week: 5

Skinny: Despite Kirby Smart preparing his team for the triple option all the way back in the spring, Georgia still lost to in-state rival Georgia Tech. The Dawgs should have won this game.

4. Auburn

Last week: 2

Skinny: Much like Florida, Auburn struggled mightily on offense. They’re a good team that lost to a great team.

3. Florida

Last week: 3

Skinny: For much of the game against Florida State, the Gators’ defense was excellent even with the injury losses. Too bad the quarterback play continues to haunt them. Unfortunately for the Gators, they still have to play Alabama next week in Atlanta. Getting up for that game emotionally won’t be easy.

2. LSU

Last week: 4

Skinny: LSU gets the road win over Texas A&M. Ed Orgeron secures the full-time job. The LSU offense has been cranking. The defense is good. I know they lost to Florida, but they’re getting the No. 2 slot behind Alabama. Seriously, who else would you put at No. 2?

1. Alabama

Last week: 1

Skinny: Alabama wins again. They’ll roll over Florida. Then, we’ll get to see just how good this team is when they reach the Playoff for the third consecutive year.
