Alabama is still alive in the division, Ole Miss came back to reality while LSU and Texas A&M popped to the head of the class.

The Tide and Rebels still have a chance, but fans must be looking at the schedule and circling the Nov. 28 showdown between the Aggies and Tigers in Baton Rouge.

Here is what we learned about each SEC West team after the sixth week of play this season:

ALABAMA: The reports of the Crimson Tide’s demise has been exaggerated. Not only did Alabama go into Athens and beat Georgia, it routed Georgia.

It begs the question was Georgia overrated or is the West Divison that much better than the East Divison?

The answer appears to be on a soggy Saturday, that Alabama was head-and-shoulders above the Bulldogs.

Alabama’s Derrick Henry and UGA’s Nick Chubb were basically even, but the difference was the quarterback play. Jake Coker may have come of age for the Tide, throwing for 190 yards while the Bulldogs QBs were picked off three times.

ARKANSAS: The Razorbacks still have a heartbeat. After losing heartbreaker after heartbreaker, Arkansas pulled one out against Tennessee.

The Hogs’ dormant offense showed the spark that was expected in the preseason as Alex Collins and Rawleigh Williams III each ran for 100 yards and Brandon Allen threw for 219.

We also learned the Arkansas defense is still a work in progress. It surrendered 355 total yards to the Vols.

AUBURN: Peyton Barber must be utilized more than he has been. All he did was run for 151 yards and five touchdowns. Sure, it was against San Jose State, but that amount is impressive against the staff at the Sandestin Resort in Florida. The Tigers must realize they have no vertical passing game by now, so pound the rock with Barber to loosen the defenses down the road so Auburn can throw just a little bit.

LSU: We learned the Tigers can do it in purple jerseys as well which is all we thought we’d learn when LSU played Eastern Michigan.

Leonard Fournette ran for more than 200 yards again for the undefeated Bayou Bengals to pad his Heisman Trophy resume.

As a team, LSU rushed for 399 yards and were so dominant, quarterback Brandon Harris only attempted 15 passes.

LSU and Texas A&M are now in control of the SEC West.

MISSISSIPPI STATE: We learned the Bulldogs are now the best of the rest in the SEC as it is virtually impossible for MSU to win the division with a pair of losses already.

Dak Prescott did not throw a touchdown for the first time since the Stone Age and was the only offense the Bulldogs had. He threw for 210 and ran for 96. The rest of his offense ran for 100.

OLE MISS: As I said earlier this year, Ole Miss has to avoid the “that” game. The game they do not show up to play.  The one it has had in the last two years. Wait, last three years.

“That” game came Saturday in Gainesville.

If you don’t earn it, Rebs, no one will give it to you. A tough lesson to learn in Florida.

TEXAS A&M: We learned that Texas A&M is not getting the respect it deserves. Kyle Allen is quietly becoming one of the best quarterbacks in the league. Tra Carson ran for 100 yards in the win over Mississippi State.

Christian Kirk also showed us again he can make plays.

And don’t forget the Aggie defense. It was able to bottle up Dak Prescott which was no easy task.
