We keep track of red zone stats for you each week.

OFFENSIVE RED ZONE STATISTICS

Mississippi State and Auburn took over the top spot in red zone scoring and red zone touchdown percentage this past week with flawless performances. The Bulldogs went 6-for-6 while scoring touchdowns on 5 of 6 trips against Arkansas, while Auburn also went 6-for-6 while getting in the end zone on each of theirs.

The Razorbacks rank 9th in the SEC in red zone scoring, but they’re 2nd-best when it comes to finding pay dirt, scoring on 66 percent of opportunities off an SEC-high 33 touchdowns in 50 trips.

Meanwhile, LSU fell from 1st all the way down to 6th after not coming away with points in 2 of 3 red zone opportunities against Ole Miss.

Ole Miss is right behind Mississippi State and Auburn at 3rd in scoring percentage. In fact, what the Rebels have done may be just as impressive considering they’ve reached the red zone eight more times — an SEC-high 53 times — and still boast a percentage of 86.8.

Florida is still having a hard time capitalizing and coming away with points near the goal line. The Gators entered last week 13th in the SEC in scoring percentage, and that’s where you’ll find them this week also after UF failed to put points on the board in 2 of 4 tries against Florida Atlantic. However, Florida has a much more respectable rate scoring TDs, tied with Auburn at 4th with a respectable 62.2 percent.

Vanderbilt remains dead last in the FBS in scoring percentage (60.7 percent). That’s because it didn’t even reach the red zone in the 25-0 shutout loss to Texas A&M. Missouri still anchors the SEC in touchdown percentage (34.5) despite scoring a touchdown in its only opportunity against Tennessee last week.

DEFENSIVE RED ZONE STATISTICS

The Commodores had the performance of the week defensively in the red zone. Vanderbilt made Texas A&M settle for field goals in all four of its trips there, and the Aggies missed one of those kicks.

For the season, Vanderbilt is only allowing teams to come away with points on 68.3 percent of their trips. The ‘Dores are one of just two SEC teams that rank among the top 10 in the FBS in opponent red zone scoring percentage along with Georgia (65.5). The Bulldogs actually managed to take over the top spot by only allowing Georgia Southern to score on 1 of 3 trips.

Mississippi State actually moved up into 2nd place in opponent red zone TD percentage despite only denying Arkansas from getting into the end zone once in seven chances.

Alabama has allowed teams to come away with points 82.6 percent of the time, which is 12th in the SEC. However, opposing teams have only managed to reach the red zone 23 times against the Crimson Tide, which is one fewer than Florida for the best mark in the conference.

This week, the Gators face the rival Seminoles, and the red zone may play a huge factor in that matchup when UF has the ball. Florida is tied for 4th in the SEC at scoring TDs in the red zone (62.2 percent), while Florida State is 2nd in the ACC and 17th in the FBS at preventing them (44.4 percent).

We might see another key matchup this week in Baton Rouge as LSU aims to end its three-game losing streak with a win against Texas A&M. The Tigers, who rank 3rd in the SEC at punching it in the end zone (65.8 percent) face their former defensive coordinator John Chavis, whose Aggies rank 3rd in the league at denying teams from getting in (42.5 percent).
