Former Ohio State assistant Zach Smith took to Twitter on Wednesday to defend himself against all of the disturbing allegations made by his ex-wife that led to his firing.

However, on Wednesday night, the Columbus Dispatch received an anonymous email containing a police report containing new information about a pattern of abuse from Smith toward his ex-wife, Courtney.

The disturbing report outlined the depth of Smith’s alleged abuse, given from Courtney to an officer back in 2015:

“The victim states that last year, the suspect choked her until she could not breathe,” the narrative report said. “The victim states that the suspect tells her all the time that he will kill her.”

The one-page narrative details several other previous incidents, including in October 2014 when she claimed Zach Smith “cut her hand open with a tin can causing significant bleeding.” She showed Officer Ben Boruchowitz photographs she said were from the attack. In January 2015, she alleged that he “threw her into a wooden stair causing significant bruising and swelling.” Boruchowitz was again shown photographs she said were from the incident, according to the report.

If that isn’t disturbing enough, the officer said Courtney Smith told him about an Ohio State lawyer coming to her home to convince her to drop the charge against Zach:

Boruchowitz wrote that Courtney Smith told him Ohio State sent a lawyer to her Powell home in connection with a previous incident, “convincing her to drop the charge because it would embarrass OSU if she proceeded with the prosecution.”

According to the Dispatch’s report, Ohio State was unaware of these allegations, which is troubling considering the school recently completed an investigation into this very matter, for which coach Urban Meyer was given a three-game suspension.
