The last few months haven’t been kind to the Gamecocks.

A class once ranked No. 5 in the nation by 247Sports has fallen 11 spots after seven decommitments to No. 16, the latest coming Tuesday night from four-star defensive end Arden Key out of Lithonia, Ga.

Who is the next committed player to go elsewhere? It could be four-star offensive lineman Christian Pellage who is reportedly intrigued by the possibility of playing as a true freshman for Jim McElwain at Florida.

Pellage has been committed to coach Shawn Elliott and the Gamecocks since August and plans to visit South Carolina on Jan. 23. His other official could go to the Gators the weekend before or after.

Pellage graded as one of the blockers in Orlando, Fla., last week at the Under Armour All-America event. The Gamecocks currently have 17 commits in this year’s class and eight have already enrolled.
