It’s not often that South Carolina fans are rooting for a Clemson player, but when that player has announced his transfer and is considering the Gamecocks, that tone changes in a hurry.

On Wednesday, former 5-star Clemson DT Josh Belk visited the Gamecocks’ campus, and will also visit Georgia on Thursday.

Belk is from Richburg, South Carolina, and told Rivals.com after his visit that he was a Gamecock fan growing up:

“It’s the same, it’s the same as it was before,” Belk said. “It was shocking to me; it picked up right where it left off. I’ve always been cool with South Carolina, because of how close it is to home and how the coaches welcome me in through anything. Growing up as a little kid, I was a Carolina fan. I know I had mentioned in one of my other interviews, I had a closet full of Carolina stuff.”

That sounds promising for the Gamecocks, but a visit in Athens looms large on Thursday. He’d be a big addition to South Carolina’s defensive line.

According to 247Sports, Belk was the No. 1 defensive tackle in the class of 2018.
