Transitioning from one coaching staff to another brings a certain amount of player turnover for every college football program.

Whether it be that a player doesn’t fit a new system or simply doesn’t mesh with a new head coach, it’s nearly unavoidable.

And things have been no different for South Carolina as new coach Will Muschamp tries to mold the Gamecocks roster into what fits his long-term vision.

According to a report from The Big Spur, Gamecocks WR Jalen Christian is set to transfer from South Carolina.

“Jalen Christian and I met and he’s going to transfer,” Muschamp said. “He has some things at home. He has some things that are very personal to him. He’s a great young man and we didn’t want him to leave. I really appreciate how he’s handling the situation; he’s handling it like a man. We’re going to help him transfer to a place closer to home. At the end of the day, it’s about the student-athletes.”

The report indicates that it is an amicable split, during which Muschamp has commended Christian for the way that he handled himself while dealing with some “personal issues.”

Christian, a former four-star recruiting in the 2015 signing class, redshirted last season and still has four years of eligibility remaining.
