The South Carolina Gamecocks open the 2017 season with a game against NC State in Charlotte, where they’ll face a Wolfpack team that crushed Vanderbilt in last year’s Independence Bowl.

In what should be a good game between two evenly matched opponents, NC State coach Dave Doeren knows which player his defense will be keying on.

In the video below, Doeren breaks down what he expects from the Gamecocks, singling out WR Deebo Samuel as an impact player for coach Will Muschamp’s squad:

“I think Deebo Samuel is one of the better receivers we’ll play all year,” he says in the video. “I think he’s spectacular.”

Considering Samuel caught 59 passes for 789 yards and a touchdown and added 15 carries for 98 yards and six additional scores on the ground, Doeren is right to be worried about the junior wide receiver.

We’ll have to wait until Sept. 2 to see what Samuel can do against the Wolfpack defense.
