The Gamecocks depth at running back got a big boost this week as former North Carolina back Ty’Son Williams has been admitted into school in Columbia. Williams announced his decision to transfer from North Carolina following his true freshman season in June.

According to The Big Spur, Williams is now officially a member of the team but will have to serve as a redshirt walk-on this season before playing for the Gamecocks in 2017. In his only season with the Tar Heels, Williams rushed for 57 yards on 19 carries.

Coming out of high school in 2015, Williams was a four-star recruit, the No. 5 overall rated player from South Carolina and the No. 22 running back in the nation, according to 247Sports.
