South Carolina DB Javon Charleston has been suspended following an arrest for assault and burglary charges, according to The State’s David Bland.

According to the report, the incident happened on June 17. Charleston was text messaging with a female, and when she didn’t respond, he allegedly went to the place she was staying and entered around 2:00 a.m. When Charleston showed up, he got into an altercation with the female and another man in her bed. Charleston chased the man out of the house, and the female locked Charleston out of the house. He then tried to gain entry, per the report, and the female ran out of the back door. Charleston then allegedly caught up to her, grabbed her by the neck and pushed her down the stairs.

After giving his story to police, the female wanted to press charges, and Charleston was arrested.

While suspended, Charleston can’t take part in any football activities. The Illinois native has played WR and DB during his career, and he recorded six tackles and recovered two fumbles in 2017.

We’ll update this story as new information is released.
