With Will Muschamp now running the ship at South Carolina, the Gamecocks continue to land one elite recruit after another with the latest verbal pledge coming from Georgia defensive lineman MJ Webb.

The defensive-minded coach was eager to announce the addition of a potential difference maker on the defensive side Friday when he sent out his customary ‘Spurs Up!’ celebratory tweet:

The 6-foot-3, 271-pound Webb is rated as a four-star prospect, the No. 8 strong-side defensive end in the nation and the No. 26 overall recruit from the state of Georgia, according to 247Sports. Webb selected the Gamecocks over offers from Clemson, Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Ohio State and Notre Dame, among others.

Last season, Webb recorded 77 tackles, 12 tackles-for-loss, seven sacks and two forced fumbles. Check out his junior season highlight reel:

South Carolina’s 2017 recruiting class now stands 20 strong, with Webb becoming the fourth four-star prospect to join the Gamecocks’ latest class.

After South Carolina regressed from a talent standpoint in the late years of the Steve Spurrier era, Muschamp is working overtime to infuse the roster with talent and has assembled the nation’s No. 16 ranked recruiting class in the nation, according to 247Sports Team Recruiting Rankings.
