It’s a bit of a good news, bad news situation in Columbia this week as rising junior receiver Randrecous Davis is expected to miss the remainder of South Carolina’s spring practice due to injury. However, the injury isn’t likely serious enough to linger into fall.

According to Will Muschamp, Davis recently had to have his groin drained, which is expected to knock him out of the second half of South Carolina’s spring session. The Gamecocks returned to campus this week following the school’s spring break period.

In his two seasons on campus, Davis has caught 10 passes for 100 yards. He has yet to record a touchdown for the Gamecocks. Four of his 10 catches came in South Carolina’s bowl matchup against Michigan. He appeared in 11 games in 2017 after playing in only two as a true freshman.

News of Davis’ status comes from Mike Gillespie, sports director of ABC Columbia:

South Carolina will conclude spring practice with its annual Garnet-Black spring game Saturday, March 31.
